My main goal as an English teacher is to help non-native speakers of English try to sound more natural when they speak. Not only do I model how native English speakers speak and have my students produce it, but I also have students in some of my classes record and analyze their own speaking. This way, each student can focus on what they need to practice.
One of the classes I teach is Advanced Communication. In this class, I begin the course by having one-on-one 5-minute conversations with each student in the class. Then, the students analyze their initial recording to see where they should focus on in order to go to a higher level of fluency. We then do various activities in class to help learn conversation strategies that will make them sound more natural. The students have many opportunities to record conversations with me as well as with each other, so that they can analyze their progress.
